screen-shot-2016-09-19-at-9-59-11-amLast fall, the Office of Equity will be launching the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus’s first Sexual Misconduct Campus Climate Survey. This confidential survey sought to help us better understand the extent and effects sexual misconduct has in our community. Responses will guide our work to improve prevention and response to help make our community a place where Respect is Expected. 

An individualized survey link will be sent to all campus community members via their university email on October 24th, and will remain open until November 11th.

Participants in the survey will have the opportunity to enter their e-mail address into a pool to receive a $50 Amazon giftcard as a “thank you.”

Your name and e-mail address will be disconnected from your survey responses.

We recognize that sexual misconduct can be difficult to think and talk about. If at any point in the survey you need to stop and speak with someone, information on 24/7 support lines will be available on the page. Please be sure to take care of yourself as you help us improve our efforts to end sexual misconduct.

Who should take the survey? Our goal is for every member of the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus community to take this survey. In order for us to do our best to prevent and remedy sexual misconduct, we need to first understand what is happening to our community members both on and off campus. Sexual misconduct includes more than just sexual assault– sexual exploitation, sexual harassment, dating/domestic violence, and stalking are also included in this survey. We know that the rates of these experiences are much too high whether you are a first year student or a tenured faculty. What we need to know next is more about when and where it happens, and how we can better prevent and respond.

I haven’t experienced any of those things. Should I still take it? Yes! In order for us to get accurate data, we also need to hear from people who haven’t experienced sexual misconduct. This will help us gauge the severity and scope of the problem for our entire community.

Will anyone be able to connect me to my responses? Your responses will be kept entirely confidential! Our research team will be disconnecting your name and e-mail address from the responses you provide before releasing the data to us for analysis. The researchers have signed confidentiality agreements with the university to ensure your information is protected to our high standards. By entering your e-mail address into the pool for receiving a gift-card, you are only disclosing that you took the survey, but not any of your specific answers.

I am both a student and a staff/faculty member. Can I take the survey more than once? We are taking steps to ensure that individuals with both student and staff status are only sent one survey link. If you receive multiple links, we ask that you only take the survey one time. You will not be eligible to enter the gift-card pool more than once by taking the survey more than once.

I’m worried that this survey will bring up some bad feelings or memories for me. We certainly do not want you to be negatively impacted by this survey. If you do not feel like you are in the place where you can take this survey, you do not have to. However, if you want to share your experiences with us in this confidential format, we encourage you to take good care of yourself before, during, and after. Contact information for confidential support resources is available on every page of the survey, and you can stop or pause the survey at any time. You can also skip any question in the survey. We do want to hear from you, but only in a way that is ok for you.

Where do I take it? Check your university email! On October 24th, you will receive an email from us with your individualized link to take the survey. Follow this link to take the survey confidentially. Upon completion, you will have the option to enter into a selection pool for one of several $50 Amazon gift cards; if you select yes, your e-mail will not be connected to your responses. The survey (and chance for a gift card) will end November 11th.

When will you release the results? We anticipate releasing results identifying themes as well as our strategic plan to address those themes in Spring 2017. We have not yet finalized a firm date for this as the time needed for analysis may vary.
